The story of the Nelson family in Katy begins with Clyde and Leatha Nelson, who moved to Katy in 1938. Engaging in rice and cattle farming, the Nelsons quickly became a staple in the community, actively participating in local school and community events. Their children, involved in the Katy FFA and the school band, carried on the family’s legacy of community involvement.

In parallel, George and Alice Nelson established their roots in Katy in the early 1930s, setting up a prosperous farming and ranching enterprise. Their commitment to education was evident, with George serving on the Katy ISD school board in 1939. Their children, too, played significant roles in the community and continued the family’s legacy in farming.
